The US peace plan for ending the russian-Ukrainian war allegedly contains a proposal under which Ukraine could transfer part of its territories to russia "on lease."
The Telegraph writes about this, citing its own sources.
According to the newspaper, the draft plan reads as follows:
- Russia continues to de facto control the Donetsk and Luhansk Regions, but legally they remain the territory of Ukraine. Moscow should pay Ukraine a so-called "rent" for the use of the land.
- Ukraine should cut its army in half and give up long-range missiles.
- The presence of foreign military personnel and the use of foreign aircraft are prohibited in Ukraine.
- In the occupied territories, the russian language and the russian Orthodox Church receive official status. Kyiv will be able to negotiate with the US and European countries on security guarantees to support the ceasefire.
- The presence of foreign military and the use of foreign aviation is prohibited in Ukraine.
According to The Telegraph, negotiations on this plan were held in Miami between Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff and russian representative Kirill Dmitriev. The sources claim that the White House tried to put pressure on Volodymyr Zelenskyy by hinting at his "weakened position" due to the corruption scandal.
Ukraine has already rejected the proposed peaceful settlement. The kremlin said it had no information about such a plan.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the administration of US President Donald Trump is secretly consulting with the country-aggressor russia on the development of a new 28-point plan to end the war in Ukraine.
The White House expects that a framework agreement to end the war in Ukraine will be reached by the end of this month, possibly this week.
US President Donald Trump this week approved a 28-point document, whose main goal is to end russia's war against Ukraine.
