The US President this week approved a 28-point document aimed at ending russia's war against Ukraine. It was reported by NBC News.
A group of high-ranking officials, including Special Representative Steve Witkoff, Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Presidential son-in-law Jared Kushner, have been involved in the development of this confidential initiative, which has been in the works for the past several weeks.
According to the agency, during the development of the plan, US representatives consulted with both russian diplomats (including Kirill Dmitriev) and Ukrainian officials.
The plan provides for the establishment of a lasting peace through security guarantees for Ukraine and russia. The source notes that the initiative takes into account Ukraine's needs to overcome the conflict. However, details of the document are not disclosed until it is finalized with key parties
Three American officials reportedly said that the main content of the agreement has not yet been presented to Ukraine, and the finalization of the plan coincided with the visit of the Pentagon delegation to Kyiv.
The mission of the US delegation included discussions with Ukrainian representatives on two key topics: military strategy and technical aspects, as well as the resumption of dialogue to achieve peace. At the same time, the Americans were analyzing the front line to facilitate a possible peace process. Although the US delegation held consultations, Ukraine was not included in the process of developing the peace plan itself. Ukrainian officials received only the general provisions of the document - without details and no invitation to contribute to its creation.
Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, a prominent Trump ally and author of the bill on sanctions against Russia, expressed surprise at the emergence of the "peace plan". He emphasized that no agreement will be successful until the United States clearly demonstrates its readiness to militarily support Ukraine and create economic and resource losses for the aggressor.
"I don't know anything about it. But I will say this: I hope there’s no plan out there — no plan will work unless [Russian President Vladimir] Putin believes that we’re serious about continuing to provide higher end military aid to Ukraine," Graham said.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the administration of US President Donald Trump is secretly consulting with the country-aggressor russia on the development of a new 28-point plan to end the war in Ukraine.
The White House expects that a framework agreement to end the war in Ukraine will be reached by the end of this month, possibly this week.
