Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski announced the decision to revoke consent to the operation of the last russian consulate in the country - the one in Gdansk. This is reported by RMF24.
Thus, in the coming hours, the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs will notify russian diplomacy of the revocation of consent to the operation of the consulate of the aggressor state of the russian federation in Gdansk. This is the last russian consulate operating in Poland.
In May, Poland closed the russian consulate in Kraków. This happened in response to the results of the investigation into the fire in a warehouse on Marywilska Street in Warsaw. The warehouse burned down on May 12, 2024. It housed approximately 1,400 shops and service points. Prime Minister Donald Tusk then stated that "the fire on Marywilska Street was the result of arson ordered by russian intelligence." And the consulate in Poznań was closed after the arson of a paint factory in Wrocław.
"I announced then that further decisions would be taken if russia did not stop its sabotage attacks on Poland. Russia did not do this, and the attacks are intensifying. When the goal of espionage and sabotage activities is to cause human casualties, then we are not dealing with sabotage, but with state terrorism. Therefore - and this will not be our full response - I have decided to withdraw consent to the operation of the russian consulate - the last one - in Gdansk," Sikorski said.
At the same time, the Vice Prime Minister stressed that Poland does not plan to break diplomatic relations with russia.
"We do not plan to break diplomatic relations (with russia), just as other countries do not break them on their territory where acts of sabotage or terrorism have occurred," Sikorski noted.
However, he added that his ministry would not be the only one to answer to the russian side.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on November 16, an explosion occurred on the Deblin - Warsaw railway line: damage to the track was recorded, which led to a complete stop of train traffic.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk published a video on his X (Twitter) account, in which he showed the location of the explosion on the railway.
The Polish authorities suspect the aggressor country of russia of organizing sabotage on the railway, as a result of which the railway tracks in the Masovian Voivodeship were damaged.
