Russian shelling remains a key factor for the electricity supply. It is potentially possible that the blackout schedules will be in effect throughout the winter. Vitalii Zaichenko, Chairman of the Board of NPC Ukrenergo, said this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine on Tuesday, November 18.

Zaichenko noted that power engineers are working around the clock to repair the damage caused by the aggressor country russia. According to him, if not for the massive attacks, Ukraine could even export electricity in winter. However, the forecasts of power outages during the winter remain realistic, the company's CEO said.

"Potentially, it is possible. The war is not over. I can only assure you that we, as the transmission system operator, together with the owners of generation facilities, are doing everything possible to minimize or eliminate blackouts," Zaichenko emphasized.

Although changes in the power system can be positive due to the restoration of facilities, it is necessary to prepare for the worst, said the head of Energoatom. We need to save energy resources, which we do not have in abundance. As in previous years, the factor of russian shelling remains decisive, the time and intensity of which cannot be predicted, Zaichenko emphasized.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on November 4, Zaichenko said that the Ukrainian power system was operating with an increased load due to the growth of electricity consumption and advised to wear sweaters.

On November 17, consumers in the Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Donetsk and Odesa Regions were cut off from electricity supply as a result of russian drone attacks during the night and in the morning.
