Polish law enforcement officials have opened an investigation into the railroad bombing and consider the incident a terrorist attack, allegedly committed in the interests of a foreign state. It was reported in a statement by a representative of the National Prosecutor's Office of Poland, Przemysław Nowak.

According to Nowak, the prosecutor of the Mazowieckie Field Office of the Department for Organized Crime and Corruption opened an investigation into the facts of a terrorist sabotage against the railway, committed in the interests of foreign intelligence against Poland.

The investigation concerns the damage to the railway infrastructure committed on November 15-17 on line 7 between Warsaw East and Dorohusk - the undermining of the tracks near the village of Mika (Harwolin Poviat), as well as the damage to the tracks near the village of Gołąb (powiat puławski).

The investigation was launched under several articles of the Polish Criminal Code, which provide for the most severe punishment - up to life imprisonment.
