At a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada's Temporary Investigation Commission on the so-called Mindich tapes, it turned out that despite the published facts of possible bribery and abuse at Energoatom, none of the state-owned company's employees was suspended from their duties. Anastasia Radina, MP from the Servant of the People party, reported this on Facebook, citing representatives of the State Bureau of Investigation, the Prosecutor General's Office and the NACP who attended the meeting.
The Temporary Investigation Commission emphasized that Energoatom's management did not appear at the hearing at all, and the absence of suspensions allows potential defendants to continue their activities and influence the investigation.
The SBI said it had opened criminal proceedings and involved eight investigators. At the same time, the bureau was unable to check even the visit log or video recordings to find out whether Myroniuk, a person involved in the case, came to the agency in a week.
The Prosecutor General's Office called the opening of its own internal investigation "premature" and did not contact NABU or SAPO to identify the alleged "head of the prosecutor's office" who, according to SAPO, may have assisted the criminal group. The Temporary Investigation Commission emphasized the contradictory nature of this position, especially against the backdrop of numerous searches that were not previously considered pressure on anti-corruption agencies.
The NACP, in turn, announced the start of an internal audit, but did not name the timeline for its completion. The agency says that it is analyzing more than 4,300 documents, but in a week it was not able to establish which of them relate to the energy sector.
The Temporary Investigation Commissionnoted that such a slow reaction of all responsible authorities raises doubts about the real readiness to deal with alleged violations. The Commission emphasizes that further inaction may indicate possible assistance or cover-up of those involved in corruption.
The next separate meeting of the Temporary Investigation Commissionwith law enforcement and the NACP is scheduled for a week from now. The MPs emphasize that all those involved in the tapes, regardless of their position or institution, should be suspended.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on November 13, amid a scandal over corruption in the energy sector, Svyrydenko said that the Cabinet of Ministers had decided to conduct a audit of all energy state-owned companies.
On November 11, Svyrydenko said that the government had made the first decisions to restart NNEGC Energoatom, one of which is the early termination of the powers of the company's Supervisory Board.
Against the backdrop of the corruption scandal in the energy sector, the Cabinet of Ministers approved an action plan to renew the composition of supervisory boards and executive bodies of state-owned companies in the fuel and energy sector.
