The UK plans to ban companies from providing services such as delivery and insurance for russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports, in its latest attempt to help Ukraine in its war against russia, trying to reduce the Kremlin's revenues.
This was reported by the enkorr publication with reference to Reuters.
The report said that in October the European Union approved new sanctions against russia, which prohibit imports of russian LNG from January 1, 2027, and the UK and the US targeted two of russia's largest oil companies, Lukoil and Rosneft.
So on Tuesday, the UK government said it wants to go further, cutting off russia from companies that provide LNG export services.
"The ban will be phased in over 2026 in line with our European partners," the UK Foreign Office said in a statement ahead of the G7 foreign ministers' meeting in Canada on 11-12 November.
The UK also announced GBP 13 million (USD 17.5 million) in funding to help restore Ukraine's energy sector and support Ukrainians most affected by the loss of heating and electricity.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on October 22, the US Department of the Treasury announced new sanctions against russia.
The restrictions include Rosneft and Lukoil, as well as 34 of their subsidiaries.
