Court remands Energoatom's executive director for security in custody

The High Anti-Corruption Court has imposed a 60-day custodial restraint on the official of Energoatom. As an alternative, the court set a bail of UAH 40 million. This is stated in the report of the HACC on Wednesday, November 12.

The HACC investigating judge partially granted the request of the SAPO prosecutor and imposed a preventive measure of detention for 60 days on the official of Energoatom. As an alternative, the court set bail in the amount of UAH 40 million.

The suspect has to:
• appear before investigators, detectives, prosecutors, the investigating judge, and the court upon their every request and summons;
• not leave the borders of Kyiv and the Kyiv Region without the permission of the investigator, prosecutor, or court;
• notify the investigator, prosecutor, or court of a change in his or her place of residence and/or place of work;
• refrain from communicating with persons specified in the court ruling;
• hand over to the relevant state authorities his or her passport(s) for travel abroad, other documents granting the right to leave Ukraine and enter Ukraine.
• wear an electronic means of control.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on November 10, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) announced that they were conducting a large-scale operation to expose corruption in the energy sector.

On November 11, NABU released another "Midas tape" involving the former Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine.

On November 11, NABU served a notice of suspicion to former Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Chernyshov in the case of illegal enrichment and participation in a corruption scheme in the energy sector.
