Donald Trump, former President of the United States, expressed confidence in his ability to ensure the end of russia's war against Ukraine. He said this in an interview with CBS News.

In his opinion, the key factor is russia's desire to "do business" with the American side.

Answering the question whether it is realistic to end the war "in a couple of months," Trump said: "I think we're gonna get it done, yeah."

"I think he really wants to do business with the U.S. But it did work with India, and it did work with - Pakistan, and it did work with - 60% of those countries, but it worked with India, and it worked with Pakistan, and it worked with 60% of these countries," he added.

He emphasized that his tactic of threatening to impose tariffs had been successful in resolving previous wars. However, in response, the journalist reminded him that this strategy has not been successful in dealing with russian president vladimir putin.

"I did different with him because we don't do very much business with Russia, for one thing, you know? He's not, like, somebody that buys a lot from us because of-- foolishness. And I think he'd like to be. I think he wants to come in and he wants to trade with us, and he wants to make a lotta money for Russia, and I think that's great. That's what I like," Trump said.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, US intelligence estimates that russian leader vladimir putin is determined to continue the war against Ukraine and seeks to win on the battlefield. The analysis found no signs of moscow's readiness to compromise, while US President Donald Trump is trying to mediate in peace talks.

In addition, the United States canceled the planned meeting of President Donald Trump with vladimir putin in Budapest, as moscow has put forward unacceptable "tough demands" on Ukraine.
