Ukrzaliznytsia noted that the choice of 3,000 kilometers is not accidental - this is the distance that can be traveled there and back on the longest flight in Ukraine today.
"We want everyone to have the opportunity to discover our country for themselves, even if it is a trip from one end of it to another," the company explained.
Ukrzaliznytsia also emphasized that the UZ-3000 program will help reduce the load during peak periods, as it will stimulate travel during less busy times.
"This program is an important part of the systemic state financing of passenger transportation. It gives confidence in the future of the entire railway industry," Ukrzaliznytsia added.
The UZ-3000 program is part of the package of the government initiative "Winter Support", which was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. It provides for free travel across Ukraine up to 3,000 km. Details are promised to be made public by November 15, and the program will begin in December.
As a reminder, Ukrposhta has pledged to deliver the belongings of deceased and missing soldiers to their families free of charge.
