The Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council has denied the statement by the aggressor state of russia's leader vladimir putin about the alleged encirclement of Pokrovsk (Donetsk Region) and Kupiansk (Kharkiv Region) by russian troops. The head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, Andrii Kovalenko, announced this on Telegram, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"There is no encirclement of Pokrovsk and Kupiansk now. They have a plan to encircle Pokrovsk, but there is no implementation yet. Putin has been using the military component of the lie from the very beginning to broadcast it to the United States. This is where the fakes about the imminent "capture of Donbas by October" and other things that the Russians were throwing at the Americans came from. Now it doesn't work anymore, but Putin and his lie machine continue to live in this vector. Because the tactics of the Russians are unchanged - they hit one point with their foreheads that they want to break through," Kovalenko wrote.
The Center notes that such kremlin fakes are aimed at creating the illusion of "victories" of the russian army, raising the morale of the occupiers and justifying failures at the front, while the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold the line and inflict significant losses on the enemy.
The Joint Forces Task Group also denied the encirclement of Kupiansk.
"Heavy fighting is taking place in Kupiansk and its surroundings, and the occupiers are trying to gain a foothold in the northern part of the city. However, any statements about the "encirclement" of Ukrainian troops there are fiction and fantasy, not based on any factual data on the ground," the group said in a statement.
According to the russian Foreign Ministry, putin, while talking to russian servicemen undergoing treatment and rehabilitation, said that in Kupiansk and Pokrovsk the enemy was blocked and surrounded.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that on October 28, 148 combat engagements took place at the front, the hottest areas were Pokrovsk (45 clashes) and Oleksandrivka (23).
According to The Financial Times, putin ordered the capture of Pokrovsk by mid-November.
The spokesman for the Joint Forces Task Group, Viktor Trehubov, said on October 28 that the statements of the russian occupiers about the alleged encirclement of Kupiansk, Kharkiv Region, are not true, the enemy is present in the northern part of the city.
