The mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk, Ruslan Martsinkiv, said that electric scooter and e-bike rental companies have flashed them and now they automatically turn off when they enter the city center.

Martsinkiv said this in a interview with the Ukrainian News agency.

"We had a conversation with companies that rent electric scooters, and they apologized for the electric scooters. Now electric scooters cannot enter the central part of the city. They are programmed in such a way that they simply turn off if they enter the city center," the mayor said.

According to him, the companies that rent such vehicles have agreed with the decision of the city council and are implementing it.

Martsinkiv noted that private vehicles, including personal electric scooters, are also prohibited from entering the center of Ivano-Frankivsk.

The violation is punishable by a fine.

"We have the appropriate signs in the city center. They can stop such a citizen and try to bring him to administrative responsibility by issuing a fine," the mayor added.

At the same time, there are still cases when such a ban is violated, but they have become much less frequent.

"I see such cases, but they are fewer in the central part of the city. There are significantly fewer people using electric scooters and electric bicycles. Still, this decision has disciplined citizens," Martsinkiv said.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Ivano-Frankivsk banned riding any kind of bicycle in the city center. In the center of Ivano-Frankivsk, electric scooters were banned.
