The kremlin's special envoy and head of the russian Direct Investment Fund, Kirill Dmitriev, said that russia, the United States and Ukraine are allegedly close to a diplomatic solution that could end the russian-Ukrainian war.

It was reported by Reuters.

After arriving in Washington for talks with US officials, Dmitriev said that the meeting between US President Donald Trump and kremlin leader putin had not been canceled, as the US president had written, and that they would probably meet later.

At the same time, he said that russia, the United States and Ukraine were "close to a diplomatic solution" that would end the russian-Ukrainian war

"I believe Russia and the U.S. and Ukraine are actually quite close to a diplomatic solution," the russian envoy said.

He called President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's statement that the talks could include the front line a "big move."

"It's a big move by President Zelenskiy to already acknowledge that it's about battle lines. You know, his previous position was that Russia should leave completely - so actually, I think we are reasonably close to a diplomatic solution that can be worked out," Dmitriev emphasized.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Trump administration on Wednesday, October 22, imposed sanctions on two of russia's largest oil companies, Rosneft and Lukoil, calling on moscow to agree to an immediate ceasefire in the war with Ukraine.
