The russian military command is significantly exaggerating the scale of its "successes" in the Kharkiv Region and forcing unprepared recruits, including the sick and wounded, into battle. This is stated in a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) on October 23.
According to analysts, russian troops continue offensive operations in the north of the Sumy Region, but there is no progress there. The situation is similar in the Kharkiv Axis, where, according to ISW, the russian command "creates the illusion of victories" for reporting.
Russian military bloggers associated with the Northern Group of Forces openly criticize their commanders for falsifying data on the progress near Synelnikove and sending exhausted soldiers into battle. According to their testimony, some of the military are literally taken from hospitals and thrown to the front without proper equipment.
A spokesman for the Ukrainian brigade defending the north of the Kharkiv Region said that since May 2024, russia has lost at least 15,000 soldiers killed in the Vovchansk Axis alone. A significant part of these losses are recruits with minimal training.
The situation is similar in the Kupyansk Axis. There, according to the Ukrainian military, the occupiers are conducting constant, exhausting attacks, and the lack of water is forcing them to seek "extreme methods of survival."
In addition, ISW reports continued fruitless assaults in the Lyman, Pokrovsk, and Novopavlivsk Axes. In the latter, the russian command even orders soldiers to commit suicide so as not to be captured, spreading fake news about the "cruel treatment" of Ukrainian forces.
Despite minor local advances in some areas, overall the russian troops are not having strategic successes. ISW analysts believe that the Kremlin is trying to compensate for failures with propaganda and fake victories.
Let us remind you that the russians are raising flags to pretend superiority over the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
