Russian troops in the Lyman sector are resorting to propaganda tricks - the command orders to raise flags to create the illusion of numerical superiority over the Ukrainian army.
This is stated in the russian Offensive Campaign Assessment by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) as of September 26, 2025, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
According to analysts, enemy units are avoiding direct clashes and hiding in dugouts, waiting for reinforcements. At the same time, the command is forcing the military to demonstrate "activity" - to set up flags in their positions in order to shoot staged videos for the russian audience,
ISW reports that in the north of the Sumy and Kharkiv Regions, the russian army suffers heavy losses while forcing water bodies and has no success in the directions of Kupiansk, Kostiantynivka and Zaporizhzhia. According to russian milbloggers, in some areas, russian troops are losing hundreds of people and do not have sufficient medical support
Analysts add that moscow has deployed several elite drone units from the Rubicon Center to the Lyman direction to prevent Ukrainian forces from operating ground communication lines.
