On October 22, Ukraine stopped pumping natural gas into underground gas storage facilities (UGS) and began withdrawing natural gas from underground storage facilities, as evidenced by data from the European platform Agregated Gas Storage Inventory (AGSI).
This was announced by Interfax-Ukraine, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
It is noted that according to AGSI, the total level of natural gas reserves in Ukraine's UGS as of Wednesday, October 22 exceeded 8.5 billion cubic meters, excluding long-term storage gas (process gas).
AGSI is an abbreviation for Agregated Gas Storage Inventory.
This is a European platform that collects and provides data on natural gas reserves in underground storage facilities of many countries, including Ukraine.
The publication writes that according to former Energy Minister Olha Buslavets, a decrease in gas production and an increase in its consumption, including the partial inclusion of heating in social facilities, led to a decrease in the rate of gas injection into underground storage facilities at the end of last week to 10 million cubic meters per day.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Serhii Koretskyi, Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine, stated on October 1 that the Naftogaz Group had fulfilled the government-approved plan for gas injection into underground storage facilities by 95-97%.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, commenting on russia's strikes on energy facilities, noted that it is necessary to prepare for everything, it is difficult for him to say now what will happen with electricity and Ukraine must be ready to import gas.
Due to russian strikes, Ukraine will have to increase gas imports by 30%.
