Despite the almost complete destruction of the city, about 1,200 civilian residents still remain in Pokrovsk. This was reported by the head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration Vadym Filashkin in Telegram.
The city authorities report an extremely low evacuation rate: last week, only one family was able to be evacuated from Pokrovsk. However, about 1,200 people, mostly elderly, whose evacuation is a priority, are still in the city.
"People are in basements and only go out to get water. Almost 90% of all buildings have been destroyed, the enemy is wiping the city off the face of the earth. Pokrovsk managed to avoid a humanitarian catastrophe only thanks to the Armed Forces of Ukraine," Filashkin said.
So, several wells are still operating in the city, from where you can get technical water. At the same time, according to the head of the Regional Military Administration, it is extremely difficult to leave Pokrovsk, since all access roads are under the control of russian troops.
It is noted that the evacuation process from Pokrovsk is extremely difficult. The reason is that almost all access roads to the city are under the constant control of russian troops, and it is currently practically impossible to continue the evacuation from Pokrovsk.
The head of the Regional Military Administration also confirmed the terrible facts of the shooting of civilians by the russian military.
"The civilians whom the russians shot, they killed in the center of Pokrovsk. This was done by enemy groups that entered the city," Filashkin said, adding that although there are no enemy positions in the city, sabotage groups penetrate and are destroyed by the Defense Forces.
The situation in Kostiantynivka, where more than 5,000 civilians are located, also remains difficult.
"Every day, from 30 to 100 people leave the city. The enemy controls all access roads, but evacuation from Kostiantynivka can still be carried out," Filashkin said.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Ukrainian military is successfully neutralizing russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups trying to penetrate Pokrovsk.
