The Central Election Commission (CEC) has extended the deadline for Tetiana Chornovol to submit documents for her registration as a member of the Verkhovna Rada for a year due to the fact that she must complete a secret combat task.
This is evidenced by the CEC's response to a request from the Ukrainian News Agency.
The Central Election Commission provided a copy of Chornovol's application to postpone the deadline for submitting documents.
In her application, Chornovol stated that she is currently a commander and is performing some combat task. Since MP who is a military serviceman is seconded to the Verkhovna Rada for the term of his MP's powers, this will prevent Chornovol from completing the combat task, which she cannot disclose due to military secrecy, but indicates that it will take 12 months to complete.
Chornovol also stated that in order to submit documents to the CEC, she needs to write a number of reports to the military command, each of which takes 1 month.
In addition, she noted that in order to appoint a new platoon commander, as well as to ensure the further execution of combat missions by her subordinates of the orders of the commander of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to protect the state, she needs to take appropriate actions.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Central Election Commission extended for a year the deadline for Tetiana Chornovol to submit documents for her registration as a member of the Verkhovna Rada. On September 18, the CEC announced that it had recognized Tetiana Chornovol (No. 27 on the party's electoral list) as an elected member of the Verkhovna Rada from the European Solidarity party, replacing the murdered Andriy Parubiy, whose MP powers were terminated early.
