Poland's Foreign Ministry has warned russian president vladimir putin against flying through its airspace on his way to a summit in Hungary with US President Donald Trump. This is reported by Reuters.

Warsaw said that in the event of such a flight, it may be forced to execute an international arrest warrant.

"I cannot guarantee that an independent Polish court will not order the government to accompany such an aircraft to transfer the suspect to the court in The Hague," Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski said.

It is noted that the order of the International Criminal Court obliges the member states of the court to arrest putin if he sets foot on their territory.

"I think the Russian side is aware of this. And so, if this summit takes place, hopefully with the participation of the victim of aggression, the plane will take a different route," he said.

In order to avoid flying over Ukraine, the russian delegation will have to fly through the airspace of at least one European Union country. All EU countries are members of the ICC, although Hungary is in the process of withdrawing from the court.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on October 16, US President Donald Trump said he had a phone conversation with russian dictator putin. They agreed to hold a meeting in Budapest.

A senior Western European official said that russian leader vladimir putin's planned visit to Budapest would be inconvenient for both the European Union and NATO, of which Hungary is a member.
