The Cabinet of Ministers has allocated UAH 6 billion to protect critical energy infrastructure. This is stated in Decree No. 1135 of October 18, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
The funds are allocated from the state budget reserve fund for the construction of protective structures for critical infrastructure facilities of the fuel and energy sector, protection of traction substations of railway transport and the sector of life support systems of critical infrastructure (heat supply, water supply and sewage).
In particular, UAH 5.2 billion was allocated to regional state administrations, and UAH 800 million to Ukrzaliznytsia.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on October 18, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko said that the government strengthens the protection of critical infrastructure, at an extraordinary meeting adopted a number of decisions that will make the protection and restoration of critical facilities more effective.
According to her, the government has allocated additional funds from the reserve fund for the protection and restoration of critical infrastructure in the frontline regions and Ukrzaliznytsia, the funds will be used to strengthen energy, transport and vital systems - from generators and battery stations to the construction of engineering protection.
