Ukraine will accelerate protection of critical facilities - Prime Minister Svyrydenko

The government has adopted a number of urgent decisions for the accelerated protection and restoration of critical infrastructure.

This was stated by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko.

According to the Prime Minister, the government is already strengthening the protection of critical infrastructure.

"We must act quickly so that people always have light, heat and water, even despite enemy shelling," she added.

Svyrydenko said that a number of decisions were adopted at the extraordinary meeting that will make the protection and restoration of critical facilities more effective. As the Prime Minister noted, they provide the relevant departments and services with the opportunity to quickly allocate funds and repair damage.

Svyrydenko explained that a Coordination Center for Engineering Protection will be created in Ukraine, which will unite representatives of the government, regional and local authorities, and infrastructure operators.

The center will determine priorities for financing and restoring facilities, coordinate actions and monitor the implementation of work, and its work will be supervised by Vice Prime Minister Oleksii Kuleba and the Restoration Agency.

At the same time, the Prime Minister announced that the government has updated the list of expenditures financed by the state in a priority mode.

"Now the treasury will be able to allocate funds from the state budget more quickly for the construction, repair and protection of energy facilities so that they work even during attacks," she said.

Svyrydenko reported that during the meeting the government adopted decisions that will allow accelerating the construction of engineering protection around energy facilities, transport and life support systems.

"Control over the quality and safety of work is maintained, but the procedural part - from approval to the conclusion of contracts - will become months shorter," she said.

According to the Prime Minister, this will allow for the prompt start of construction and repairs, ensure uninterrupted operation of the energy infrastructure, and restore the damaged faster.

Among other things, Svyrydenko reported that additional funds from the reserve fund will be directed to the protection and restoration of critical infrastructure in front-line regions and Ukrzaliznytsia.

The funds will go to strengthen energy, transport, and vital systems - from generators and battery stations to the construction of engineering protection.

"This will allow for the faster construction of protective structures, the prompt restoration of damaged facilities, and the uninterrupted operation of the energy sector," she explained.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the goal of these decisions is to make Ukrainians resilient and improve the crisis response process to the consequences of shelling, so that life in Ukraine does not stop even during the war.
