The propaganda machine of the aggressor country russia has formed a "bizarre reality" for russians that US President Donald Trump and russian dictator vladimir putin have entered into a "secret pact" over Ukraine.

This is discussed in the material of the French edition of Le Monde.

The newspaper writes that the russian information space is spreading theories that during the summit in Alaska on August 15, Trump and putin allegedly signed a deal on Ukraine. And the recent phone conversation between the two leaders and the agreement to hold a meeting in Budapest is allegedly a further step in this "secret agreement."

Journalists note that the Moscow Stock Exchange reacted to Trump and Putin's phone call with an optimistic 5% rise in indices. Russian officials also generally support the narrative of the allegedly secret agreements between Trump and putin, which has created a "feast of complacency" in the information space.

At the same time, Le Monde emphasizes that the meeting between Trump and putin in Alaska ended in a complete fiasco. The summit ended early, the joint lunch was canceled, and negotiations on economic cooperation were scheduled. In addition, no real steps towards conflict resolution were taken after the meeting.

"It was a fiasco - except for the Russian national narrative, which portrayed it as a success, claiming that Putin managed to impose his demands for an end to the war, including the surrender of Ukraine, on Trump," the publication writes.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on October 17, the Financial Times wrote that in Alaska, putin told Trump about Prince Yaroslav the Wise, hetman Bohdan Khmelnytsky, and the fact that Ukrainians and russians are one people.
