US President Donald Trump has called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to accept the terms of the aggressor country russia. Otherwise, russian dictator vladimir putin will destroy Ukraine.
The British edition of the Financial Times (FT) wrote about this, citing its own sources.
Unnnamed interlocutors of the newspaper said that during a recent meeting at the White House, the US President told the Ukrainian leader that he needed to agree to russia's demands.
The FT's sources said that Trump warned Zelenskyy about the threat of Ukraine's complete destruction if he refused to make concessions. He also told the Ukrainian President that his country was losing the war.
"If Putin wants it, he will destroy you," Trump told Zelenskyy.
Three unnamed European officials said that behind closed doors, Trump "lectured" Zelenskyy. He said things that echoed the narratives of the russian dictator.
The interlocutors of the publication said that such a conversation between Zelenskyy and Trump caused disappointment and the destruction of the hopes of many European leaders. They believed that the US President could be persuaded to increase support for Ukraine.
Zelenskyy himself left the White House in an "extremely negative" mood, as Trump repeatedly swore during the conversation.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, after a meeting with Zelenskyy last Friday, October 17, Trump said that it was time to conclude a peace deal and "stop where they are."
As a reminder, The Washington Post wrote that putin allegedly said during a phone conversation with Trump, that he is ready to give up part of the occupied territories if Ukraine gives up the entire Donetsk Region.
Today, on October 19, Zelenskyy said during a video address to Ukrainians that Ukraine will not give anything to russia.
