Munich airport suspends operations due to unidentified drones

Munich International Airport has suspended operations for several hours due to unidentified drones. The incident occurred yesterday, October 18.

This was reported by The Associated Press.

According to a statement by the federal police, on Saturday several people, including airport employees, reported drones. The sightings were made at around 10:00 pm local time for about 30 minutes, and then again at around 11:00 pm for another half hour.

The incident had a minor impact on airport operations. One flight was canceled and three more were diverted, two of which were later able to land in Munich.

Later, police reported that they had not detected any suspicious persons or drones in the airport area.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on the night of October 2-3, Munich Airport temporarily suspended operations due to reports of unidentified drones.

A similar incident occurred on the night of October 3-4. Munich Airport was forced to suspend operations for several hours due to reports of UAVs.

As we will recall, on October 11, Der Spiegel reported that German air carriers had called for permission to shoot down drones that were disrupting airport operations.
