Zelenskyy says he is ready to travel to Budapest for Trump-putin meeting

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he was ready to travel to Budapest, where a meeting between US President Donald Trump and russian dictator vladimir putin is due to take place in the near future.

Zelenskyy said this in an interview with NBC News recorded last Friday, October 17.

The Ukrainian President noted that Trump needs to put even more pressure on putin than he did on Hamas to secure a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

"Putin is like Hamas, but stronger <...> That's why more pressure is needed," Zelenskyy said.

He called putin a "terrorist" but reiterated his readiness to meet the russian leader face to face.

"If we really want a just and lasting peace, we need both sides of this tragedy. How can there be any agreements without us about us?" Zelenskyy stressed.

He added that he was ready to go to Budapest, where Trump and putin are expected to meet.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on October 16, US President Trump said that he had a phone conversation with putin. He and the russian dictator agreed to meet in Budapest.
