The kremlin has confirmed the preparation of a meeting between russian president vladimir putin and US President Donald Trump, which may take place within two weeks.
The kremlin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov has announced this, Interfax reports.
"It can really happen within two weeks or a little later. It is a common understanding that there is no need to put anything on the back burner," Peskov said.
The kremlin has not yet specified where the meeting will take place.
Earlier, putin and Trump had a telephone conversation. After that, the US president said that high-level talks would take place next week, and a meeting with the kremlin chief is planned for Budapest.
It remains unclear, however, how putin, who is subject to an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court, will be able to get to Hungary, as he will have to cross the airspace of countries that are obliged to execute this warrant.
Peskov also said that putin and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban have already had a telephone conversation.
Orban earlier called the planned meeting "great news for all people on the planet who want peace" and said that Budapest had already begun preparations for the visit.
Meanwhile, the kremlin said that putin warned Trump against supplying Tomahawks to Ukraine during a conversation with him.
