Louvre robbery lasted just 7 minutes: one of stolen items already found

The Louvre robbery, which took place on October 19, happened in a flash - it took the criminals 7 minutes to remove the jewels from Napoleon's collection from the exhibition halls.

This was reported by the French broadcaster TF1.

The criminals disguised themselves as workers involved in the reconstruction of the Louvre. Two arrived on a truck with a lift, two on scooters. In preparation, they installed traffic cones, then climbed to the first floor of the museum and used a circular saw to break the glass in the Apollo gallery.

The criminals' goal was the most valuable exhibits - the diamonds from the crown. They immediately broke two display cases: "Napoleon's jewelry" and "jewels of the monarchs", taking from 5 to 10 items of immeasurable value.

An eyewitness said the robbery took just 30 seconds, after which the criminals fled on two TMAX sport scooters at 9:38 a.m. French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez said the robbery lasted more than 7 minutes.

One of the stolen jewels, the crown of Empress Eugenie, wife of Napoleon III, was found near the museum. The crown was damaged. It is believed that the thieves dropped it while fleeing.

At that time, visitors were in the Louvre, who were first asked to stay in the halls, and later evacuated - a total of about 2,000 people.

As we recall, on Sunday, October 19, a robbery took place in one of the most famous museums in the world - the Louvre.
