On Sunday, October 19, a robbery took place in one of the most famous museums in the world, the Louvre. Le Parisien reports.
The incident occurred during the opening of the museum. The French Minister of Culture confirmed that there were no injuries.
"I am at the scene with museum employees and the police. The investigation is ongoing," she said.
According to Le Parisien, three masked men entered the building from the Seine side, where construction work is currently underway. Using a freight elevator, they went directly to the Apollo Gallery, where the collection of imperial jewels is located.
The attackers broke windows and stole nine items belonging to Napoleon and the Empress, including a necklace, a brooch and a tiara.
The museum is currently closed to visitors. According to a source at the Louvre, the famous Regent diamond, weighing over 140 carats, was not damaged. The extent of the damage has not yet been determined.
As previously reported, in April of this year, pranksters hung portraits of Trump and Merz in the Louvre next to a Titian painting.
