Russian president vladimir putin has warned Donald Trump that, in his opinion, Tomahawks are not capable of changing the situation at the front, but their transfer will negatively affect relations between the two countries. Yuri Ushakov, an aide to the russian dictator, has reported this, as quoted by Meduza.

He said that the conversation between the US and russian presidents lasted almost two and a half hours. It is noted that it was "very informative, extremely frank and trusting."

During these talks, putin told Trump that russia allegedly has a strategic initiative. He also accused the "Kyiv regime" of "terrorist methods," which he said moscow was forced to respond to.

Aide to the president Ushakov added that the leaders also paid attention to the issue of possible supply of long-range Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.

"Putin reiterated that they will not change the situation on the battlefield, but will cause significant damage to the relations between the countries," the report said.

As the Ukrainian News agency reported earlier, Trump said he could not give Ukraine Tomahawk missiles because the United States needs them.

Earlier, Trump said that he had spoken with putin and called the conversation "productive." He said the two sides agreed to a meeting of high-level US and russian advisers next week, which will be led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio along with other appointed participants.

Trump added that the presidents would later meet in person in Budapest. The American leader said that the conversation brought "great progress" and that he plans to discuss its details with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
