President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with representatives of the Raytheon defense company, which, among other things, produces Patriot air defense missile systems, during his visit to Washington. It was reported by the press service of the head of state.
President Zelenskyy thanked for these systems, emphasizing their role in saving many lives of Ukrainian citizens.
"Spoke about the situation on the battlefield and Russia's intensification of strikes against our people and civilian infrastructure," the statement said.
The President's Office noted that according to the head of state, russia is not achieving any of its goals, which is why it is intensifying strikes against civilian infrastructure and people, in particular, hitting the energy system. During the attacks, russians use more than 500 drones and dozens of missiles per day.
Raytheon representatives assured of their readiness to continue supporting Ukraine. For his part, President Zelenskyy emphasized the need to strengthen air defense with specific systems and missiles for them, describing these needs in detail.
The topics of discussion between the Ukrainian side and Raytheon included the company's production capabilities, as well as possible ways of cooperation aimed at strengthening Ukrainian air defense, increasing long-range capabilities and launching joint Ukrainian-American production.
"There are solutions that can strengthen the defense of life in Ukraine. We are working at all levels to ensure their implementation," the President summarized the results of the talks.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the program of Zelenskyy's visit to the United States was presented. In Washington, Zelenskyy will meet with the leadership of the largest American defense companies that may become participants in a large-scale Mega Deal contract package. It is about the supply of air defense systems, high-precision artillery and ATACMS missiles.
