Syria's transitional president, Ahmed al-Sharaa, has arrived in moscow to meet with russian dictator vladimir putin. This is according to a report on the kremlin's website.

The interim president of Syria and the russian dictator held a meeting in the format of a working breakfast. Al-Sharaa spoke about the "historical connection" between Syria and russia, noting the importance of their development.

The russian dictator also mentioned the "deep ties" between the peoples of both countries. He praised Syria's new government for holding parliamentary elections, calling them a "great success."

Shortly before the meeting, Reuters wrote that al-Sharaa was going to discuss the continued presence of the russian army in Syria during his meeting with putin. We are talking about the russian units at the Khmeimim air base and in the port of Tartus.

According to the agency, al-Sharaa is going to officially request the extradition of fugitive dictator Bashar al-Assad to Damascus. He fled the country at the end of 2024, when Syrian opposition groups took power in a lightning offensive.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, earlier this month, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) claimed that an attempt was made to poison dictator Assad. It is not known when the incident took place.
