The aggressor country, russia, is increasing its militarization of the Arctic. In particular, its plans include the restoration of Soviet bases and the deployment of long-range systems. To this end, russia is already testing submarine platforms and intensifying maneuvers near Alaska. This is reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD).

The Center emphasizes that the kremlin is turning the Arctic direction into an instrument of hybrid influence: from information campaigns about the "stabilizing role of the Russian Federation" to the dual purpose of the Northern Sea Route infrastructure, which can be used for intelligence and military logistics.

"This is not 'development of the region' but an attempt to legitimize the military presence and put pressure on the security of the United States and its allies," the CCD emphasizes.

At the same time, the kremlin is showing a picture of "successful development of the North" by building logistics hubs in Dudinka, is preparing a forum for December called "The Arctic: Present and Future" and talks about hundreds of "residents" of the Arctic zone.

"The purpose of these actions is to create an "Arctic pressure corridor" on the United States, to disperse Washington's resources between the North and the Indo-Pacific region, posing a threat to NATO countries," the CCD notes.

At the same time, according to the Center, officials of the russian Ministry of Transport report disruptions in the construction of the fleet for the Northern Sea Route, postponement of restrictions on transportation "only by Russian vessels," chronic shortages of tankers and icebreakers, a drop in actual cargo flows and dependence on imported technologies blocked by sanctions.

"This undermines Moscow's claims to be a 'leader in the Arctic' and exposes the gap between aggressive rhetoric and real capabilities," the CCD added.

Earlier, the Center reported that over the past decades, russia's research fleet has become critically outdated, and sanctions and the disruption of supply chains make it impossible to upgrade it.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the aggressor country russia continues to destroy the Black Sea, ignoring the consequences of a large-scale environmental disaster. Fuel oil emissions from tankers that crashed in the Kerch Strait at the end of last year are being recorded on the beaches of Anapa again.
