Slovenia has joined the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative, within the framework of which NATO countries purchase weapons from the United States for Ukraine.
Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob stated this during a press conference with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
According to him, he cannot disclose the amount that Slovenia will allocate for the purchase of weapons under the PURL initiative.
"But it is provided for in the budget of the Ministry of Defense for 2025, so this is not an additional expense," Golob said.
The head of the Slovenian government added that the package will include exclusively defensive weapons. This includes, in particular, air defense.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on September 18, the Ukrainian publication Suspilne wrote, citing its own sources, that the first batch of military aid under the PURL mechanism had arrived in Ukraine.
In early August 2025, it became known that the United States and its NATO allies were working on creating a special account, the funds from which would be used to purchase weapons for Ukraine.
And in July, US President Donald Trump announced that Washington would sell weapons worth USD 10 billion to NATO allies. They would then be transferred to Ukraine.
