The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Hryhorii Tykhyi, said that the current US administration did not say "no" to Ukraine's request for Tomahawk missiles, as it was during the previous one. Discussions are currently underway.
He said this during a briefing on October 10.
"Ukraine has raised the issue of the possibility of providing these missiles before, during the previous US administration. Then the answer was 'no'. Now there is no such 'no' answer. Instead, there is a very detailed and active discussion about the possibility of providing these missiles," Tykhyi emphasized.
The spokesperson noted that the media asked a lot of questions about the technical features of the missiles - what kind of missiles they are, where they are launched from. He explained that the Ukrainian and American teams are currently working on agreeing on the details and discussing the nuances of what forms and configurations these missiles can be provided to Ukraine.
Tykhyi emphasized that Ukraine sees russia's reactions on this topic. He noted that the missiles will allow depriving russia of a number of terror tools.
"We are talking about a very practical application in the war to stop it," he added.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on October 7, US President Donald Trump said that he had actually made a decision to supply Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine.
According to Reuters, the aggressor country russia is waiting for clarity from the United States on the possible transfer of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, as theoretically this weapon can carry nuclear warheads.
