US President Donald Trump said he had actually approved the supply of Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine.
He said this during a broadcast from the White House.
According to Trump, the decision to transfer the missiles is almost made, but he wants to know how Ukraine plans to use them first.
"I think I want to find out what they're doing with them. Where are they sending them? I guess I'd have to ask that question," he said.
Trump also reiterated that the war between russia and Ukraine "should never have started" and called the decisions of both sides "bad."
"This week, they lost over 7,000 soldiers between the two of them. This is every week they're losing 7,000, 8,000, 5,000," he added.
Asked by reporters about the range of Tomahawks, Trump said he did not want to escalate and planned to ask additional questions before making a final decision.
It was reported earlier that the possibility of transferring these missiles to Ukraine had been discussed in Washington for more than a week. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that Kyiv had sent relevant requests to the United States, but did not comment on the details.
