German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that he had a heated argument with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán last week, the topic of which was the russian-Ukrainian war, in particular, negotiations with the russian side.
It was reported by DW.
So, Merz said that last week he had a rather heated argument with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in Copenhagen.
"He accused us of not wanting to negotiate," Merz explained.
It is indicated that the German chancellor responded to this accusation by telling Orbán that last July, when Hungary presided over the EU Council, he was in Kyiv and then in moscow.
"And Putin's response was to bomb a children's hospital in Kyiv. And this is not the way I want to go," Mertz explained.
Asked whether he had thought about calling putin, the Chancellor replied: "Of course I'm thinking about it. I just see that now any attempt to talk to him ends in even harsher attacks on Ukraine."
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz also said that he believes that many of the drones spotted over Germany this weekend were russian-made, may be russia, including those that disrupted dozens of flights and delayed more than 10,000 passengers at Munich Airport.
Merz earlier said that he was dissatisfied with the role that Europe plays in the negotiations on Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán downplayed the incident with the violation of Ukrainian airspace by Hungarian drones and said, that Ukraine "is not independent and sovereign".
