Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has downplayed the incident with the violation of Ukrainian airspace by Hungarian drones and said that our country "is not independent and sovereign." This is reported by the local edition of HVG.

According to the Hungarian media outlet, in an interview with the Harcosok órája podcast, Orbán said that Ukraine is "held by the West" and has no reason to behave like a sovereign state. He said this while commenting on the situation with Hungarian drones that crossed the Ukrainian border.

"Now it doesn't matter if two, three, or four Hungarian drones have flown over (the border - ed.) Let's say they flew a few meters, and then what? Ukraine is not an independent, sovereign country, we are holding it, it should not behave as if it were sovereign," the Hungarian prime minister said.

According to Orbán, Ukraine will go bankrupt if the West stops providing it with financial assistance. He also rhetorically asked why russia would spy in Zakarpattia if the front line is in the east.

As previously reported, on Friday, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the intrusion of a Hungarian reconnaissance drone. The Hungarian Foreign Ministry responded that he was "seeing ghosts." On Saturday, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had collected evidence of the violation and released a map of the drone's route "for blind Hungarian officials." The Hungarian foreign minister called it a fake and said that Ukraine was "discrediting itself." Later, Orbán on X called on Zelenskyy to "stop harassing" Hungary.
