Russian dictator vladimir putin has accused Ukraine of striking the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant and said that the aggressor country russia could attack a nuclear power plant on the territory of Ukraine. His words were quoted by Reuters on Thursday, October 2.
During his annual speech at the Valdai International Discussion Club in Sochi, putin, in his usual manner of shifting responsibility to Ukraine, said that it was impossible to restore power to the Zaporizhzhia NPP because Ukrainian troops were allegedly firing on repairmen.
"This is a dangerous game, and people on the other side should also understand that if they're going to play it so dangerously, they still have operating nuclear power plants on their side. And what's stopping us from retaliating in kind? Let them think about that," the russian dictator said.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on October 2, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said that the aggressor country russia is preparing to connect the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP to its power system, which increases the risk of nuclear incidents.
On September 30, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that a critical situation had developed at the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP.
On September 29, the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine stated that the actions of the aggressor country russia create great threats to nuclear and radiation safety at the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
