US President Donald Trump said that the lack of a Nobel Peace Prize would be an insult to his country.
He made the comments during a speech to US generals on September 30.
According to Trump, since the beginning of his second term, he has ended a number of conflicts in the world. After the end of the war in the Gaza Strip, he estimates that he will end the eighth conflict.
"If everything works out, we will have eight [ended wars] in eight months. I swear to God, no one has done this before. Will you get a Nobel Prize for this? Of course not. They will give it to some guy who did nothing. I don't want a prize, I want the country to get it. And it should, because there has never been anything like this before," the President said.
Trump also recalled that he had previously considered resolving the russian-Ukrainian war to be "the easiest task," but was mistaken. "And here we have putin and Zelenskyy. 'The easiest of all,' I said. I thought it would be the first, and the rest of the conflicts would be much more difficult," he added.

The Washington Post noted that Trump mentioned his desire to receive this award during meetings with various world leaders. Earlier, Trump spoke about Obama receiving the Nobel Peace Prize: "They gave it to Obama right after he took office, and he had no idea why he received it." Obama himself admitted that this was not "a recognition of my own achievements," but rather his inspiring rhetoric.
The Economist magazine also pointed to Trump's desire to receive the award. Le Monde newspaper quoted Trump as saying: "They will never give me the Nobel Peace Prize. It's very sad. I deserve it, but they will never give it to me."
