Zelenskyy at UN General Assembly calls for stopping putin now

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy began his address to the United Nations General Assembly with a direct request for increased military assistance. This was reported by Reuters and Zelenskyy said in a live broadcast of his speech on Wednesday, September 24.

Zelenskyy recalled how a year ago he warned about the threat of spreading russian aggression, as evidenced by drone flights over Poland, Lithuania and even russian planes in Estonia. According to him, the world needs a new security architecture and cannot ignore russia's actions.

"Today, no one but ourselves can guarantee security. Only strong alliances. Only strong partners, and only our own weapons. The 21th century is not much different from the past. If a nation wants peace, it still has to work on weapons. Weapons decide who will survive," Zelenskyy said.

The President of Ukraine stressed that the support of Ukraine by the countries of the European Union and the United States remains important, but international law must be upheld, even with weapons in hand.

"Stopping putin is cheaper now. We must act together to stop the aggressor. Then we will have a chance to stop the spread of weapons," Zelenskyy stressed.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on September 24, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated at a meeting of the UN Security Council on Ukraine that the Budapest Memorandum failed, so Ukraine and partners are "building a new security architecture."
