Russian fighter jets flew to Estonian capital before F-35s were deployed against them – Politico

Three russian MiG-31 fighter jets, potentially carrying the Kinzhal hypersonic missile, violated Estonian airspace and approached the capital Tallinn before F-35s were scrambled to intercept them. Politico reported on Friday, September 19.

According to the publication, the three russian fighter jets flew to Estonia and continued to fly over the country. Only when they approached the Estonian capital Tallinn were they used airstrikes, the sources said.

"The MiG-31 aircraft — heavy interceptors capable of carrying Russia's Kinzhal hypersonic missile — entered via the Gulf of Finland. The jets circled for about 12 minutes and NATO scrambled Italian F-35s to repel them," the report said.

This is the third attempt by the aggressor country russia to inspect NATO's eastern border this month.
