Ukraine will start exporting weapons in 2025 to increase financing for its production – Zelenskyy

Starting this year, Ukraine will partially cover the deficit in financing weapons production through managed arms exports. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this in a traditional evening video address, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"We will cover the deficit in financing for weapons production starting this year, including through managed exports of some types of our weapons. Thanks to such managed exports, we will increase the production of drones for the front," he said.

Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine can produce certain types of modern weapons in much larger quantities than it can finance itself, and certain types of weapons already exist in much larger quantities than Ukraine needs, for example, naval drones and anti-tank weapons.

He emphasized that for the supply of weapons, the first priority is the front, the second priority is Ukrainian arsenals, and only the third priority is managed exports.

According to him, within two weeks a concept will be presented - three new export platforms: the first - for exports and interaction with the US, the second - with European partners, the third direction - other partners in the world who are also interested in Ukrainian weapons and from whom Ukraine has received support.

He also noted that there should be reliable export control - so that the russians and their accomplices do not get access to Ukrainian technologies and weapons.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Cabinet of Ministers plans to attract USD 120 billion for weapons production in 2026.

In April, Zelenskyy said that more than 40% of all weapons used on the front are produced in Ukraine.
