The Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) under the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) denies information in the media that the Secretary of the NSDC Rustem Umerov has real estate in the US. This is stated in the CCD report, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"In fact, Rustem Umerov and his family members do not own any real estate in the US," the report says.
The CCD notes that the family of the Secretary of the NSDC (wife and children) rents one apartment in the US, and it is indicated in his declaration. The remaining apartments and houses indicated in the media publication were rented by the family at various times from 2016 to 2018, that is, before Umerov held public positions in Ukraine.
In addition, it is reported that the other two apartments are occupied by his parents and brother, who pay the rent on their own; under Ukrainian law, Umerov is not obliged to declare their living conditions.
The CCD notes that Umerov's family business in the United States existed long before his political career, is run by his brother and parents within the framework of a strict American financial system, where any violations are immediately recorded, and there were no complaints.
It is also noted that the NACP's verification of Umerov's declarations did not reveal any violations.
The CCD notes that the dissemination of unverified data harms the security of Umerov's family and the reputation of the state.
Thus, the National Security and Defense Council responded to the material of the Anti-Corruption Center (ACC), which found 8 elite real estate properties in the United States in the Umerov family: three apartments in Florida, one in New York, and 4 villas near Miami.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in December 2023, the Ministry of Defense denied information that the children of then Defense Minister Rustem Umerov were allegedly US citizens. The Ministry of Defense reported at the time that in 2016, Umerov's family was forced to leave the country due to attacks and threats resulting from his activities to de-occupy the temporarily occupied Crimea.
