According to Bloomberg, the situation unfolded over Long Island, where both planes were at the same altitude and intersected in course.

The air traffic controller, noticing the risky rapprochement, first asked the Spirit Airlines crew to change course. When there was no response, he repeated the command in a tougher tone and ordered to move 20 degrees to the right. Only after a pause did the pilots confirm the execution of the instruction. Then the controller mentioned Air Force One and added: "I'm sure you can see who this is. Pay attention and look away from your iPad."

The incident occurred during Spirit Airlines flight 1300 from Fort Lauderdale to Boston. The planes passed each other by a distance of several miles, which formally did not exceed safety standards, but the event caused a stir on social media. Observers followed the presidential plane's route in real time and lively discussed not only the moment of the approach, but also the controller's abrupt manner in communicating with the crew.

Despite the wide publicity, aviation services emphasized that there was no threat of collision, and the safety of the US President and passengers remained under control.
