The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the ambassador of the russian federation on September 14 and expressed a strong protest over the violation of Romanian airspace by russian drones.
This is announced in the statement of the department.
Thus, by order of the head of the Romanian Foreign Ministry, the russian ambassador in Bucharest was summoned in connection with the violation of Romanian airspace by a russian drone during the day of September 13, 2025.
"The Romanian side expressed a strong protest against this unacceptable and irresponsible act, which is a violation of Romania's sovereignty. Such repeated situations lead to an escalation and strengthening of threats to regional security. The russian side was asked to immediately take all necessary measures to avoid the violation of Romanian airspace in the future," the statement said.
It is noted that Romania is in constant contact with its allies and other EU members.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on September 13, Romania scrambled fighter jets over a drone from the aggressor country of russia, which entered the country's territory by about 10 kilometers and was in the airspace of a NATO country for about 50 minutes.
Meanwhile, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski said that the incursion of russian drones into Polish airspace was an attempt by the Kremlin to test NATO's reaction through gradual escalation, without provoking a full-scale response.
