The Rosatom Corporation of the aggressor country of russia has stated that on the night of today, September 12, a drone allegedly attacked one of the power units of the Smolensk NPP.
This is evidenced by a message on Rosatom's Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
The russians claim that at about 03:52 (Kyiv time), the drone was allegedly suppressed by the russian army's electronic warfare means over the territory of the NPP. It is alleged that it fell near the ventilation pipe of the 3rd power unit and detonated.
"As a result of the attack, several windows of auxiliary premises were broken, including the start-up reserve boiler room and the refrigeration station. There were no damages or injuries," the report says.
Rosatom stated that the incident did not affect the operation of the plant in any way, it continues to operate normally.
According to the russian publication ASTRA, at night, residents of Smolensk published several videos on the Internet in which the sounds of explosions can be heard.
The governor of the Smolensk Oblast, Vasily Anokhin, later reported that there were no deaths or injuries. Falling fragments of the UAV were recorded at several locations.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on August 24 of this year, Rosatom stated that the russian military had shot down a UAV near the Kursk NPP. As a result, a transformer was allegedly damaged.
And on August 21, one of the power units of the Novovoronezh NPP suspended work due to the operation of russian air defense systems. The invaders shot down the UAV, which fell and damaged the energy facility, which led to the shutdown of the power unit.
