IMF will demand to de-shadow Ukraine's economy

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) will demand to de-shadow Ukraine's economy.

This was announced by Danylo Hetmantsev, a member of the Verkhovna Rada from the Servant of the People faction, chairman of the parliamentary committee on finance, tax and customs policy, in Telegram, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"As Bloomberg notes, based on the results of the IMF mission's visit to Ukraine, the IMF, in particular, will demand in the new program that we de-shadow our economy. Indeed, during my meeting with the IMF mission, this issue was discussed among other sources of deficit financing. I welcome any efforts to de-shadow, which I have been engaged in since 2019. And indeed, we can find at least UAH 900 billion per year in the shadows," the MP wrote.

Hetmantsev added that Ukraine should not be forced to de-shadow, because it has become, through the efforts of a few, the business of everyone.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Danylo Hetmantsev has previously repeatedly reported on the need to combat the shadow economy.

National Bank Chairman Andrii Pyshnyi announced intensive consultations with the International Monetary Fund regarding a new lending program.
