Latvia closes airspace along border with Belarus and russia

Latvia is temporarily closing airspace along border with Belarus and russia with possibility of extension, but says there is no immediate threat at present. The Minister of Defense of Latvia Andris Sprūds reported this on X.

"The airspace will be closed from today at 6 p.m. for at least one week - until September 18. There is no immediate threat, but the army is on high alert during the Namejs comprehensive national defense exercises," Sprūds said.

He also noted that the closure of the airspace in this part will allow for full control of the restricted air zone and will facilitate the detection of unauthorized flying objects.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, from September 10 to December 9, air traffic restrictions are being introduced in Poland along the eastern border with Belarus and Ukraine in the form of the EP R129 restricted zone.

The operational command of the Polish Armed Forces confirmed the violation of the country's airspace during russia's night attack on Ukraine, and an operation is underway to identify and neutralize the objects.

Wraps of one of the drones that attacked Poland fell on a residential building in the village of Wiryky, Lublin Voivodeship.
