The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reported that it took into account the statements of the President of the Republic of Poland Karol Nawrocki about the prematurity of the discussion on Ukraine's accession to the EU and NATO as "premature" and emphasized that the discussion of Ukraine's future membership in NATO and the EU is not premature.
This is stated on the website of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
"The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry took into account the statements of the President of the Republic of Poland Karol Nawrocki about the prospects of Ukraine's membership in NATO and the European Union," the message says.
As a reminder, Nawrocki believes that discussing Ukraine's accession to NATO and the EU is now "premature due to the war," which is still ongoing.
"We proceed from the understanding that Ukraine's security future is inextricably linked to NATO, and its political and economic future is with the European Union. In addition, the member states of the Coalition of the Willing recently agreed that Ukraine's membership in the EU is one of the guarantees of security for Ukraine," the Foreign Ministry noted.
In addition, the ministry stated that Ukraine's membership in these alliances is a guarantee of security for both Ukraine and the entire Europe and the Euro-Atlantic community: "We emphasize that this position has been confirmed both in NATO and EU decisions and in numerous statements by the leaders of partner countries, in particular Poland."
"We are convinced that discussing Ukraine's future membership in NATO and the EU is not premature. On the contrary, it is strategically necessary in the context of the ongoing aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and the entire European security system," the Foreign Ministry emphasized.
The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine added that it highly appreciates the leadership demonstrated by Poland in supporting Ukraine since 2022, and is also convinced that this solidarity of the Polish state and people with Ukraine lays the foundation for a common European future.
"Ukraine continues to actively work with all partners, including Poland, to achieve the strategic goal of full membership in the EU and NATO," the Foreign Ministry summarized.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, two violations of airspace by drones were recorded in Poland on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, September 2 to 3. The enemy targets were not shot down, since they did not pose a danger.
