EU prepares plan for troop deployment in Ukraine - WSJ

The European Military Command has developed a plan for the possible deployment of troops to the territory of Ukraine, The Wall Street Journal writes, citing sources.

According to the publication, the document provides for the creation of two separate ground groups. The first of them will be engaged in training and supporting the Ukrainian military, and the second will perform the functions of a "deterrence force" designed to prevent new attacks from russia.

Currently, there are already agreements on the deployment of more than 10,000 European military personnel.

The plan also provides that Ukrainian airspace will be patrolled by NATO aircraft operating from territory outside Ukraine.

Now European countries are waiting for a decision from the administration of US President Donald Trump on the level of American support in the implementation of this plan.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the "coalition of the willing" following the results of the meeting on August 17 stated that it is ready to deploy security forces in Ukraine after the ceasefire, protect air and sea space, and restore the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
